What a week! This week I went down the rabbit hole with experimenting driving noise seeds with audio. I found you can get some very interesting results doing this. I used the logic chop and count chop to get the kick drum to drive the noise seed one seed at a time. Couple this with feedback loops and displacement, I achieved some very good results.

Experimenting is key in Touchdesigner, (although I still haven’t experimented with the new POPs). For example, I turned on ‘Preview grid’ on the composite TOP. This gave a great effect! Almost like random boxes. Again, mixed with other effects it looked great. See below.

One thing i’m super happy with is noticing how comfortable I now am with using CHOPs to do things like instancing or using the math CHOP or others to achieve certain effects. Just sitting there and understanding xyz coordinates and how to populate them was really helpful. A lot of things have really sunk in now. I think its so important to understand these fundamentals.

I have a plan to make a ticking clock soon, something I stumbled on by accident this week. I also found having a break gives good ideas. Stepping away from the screen.
